Transfer Students, Early Graduates, and Spring Entrants
The University Laptop Program has specialized tracks for students who are planning to attend APU for less than four years. (This includes transfer students as well as students who are on an accelerated track.) The program also accommodates students who enter the university in the spring rather than the fall.
Transfer Sophomores
To be enrolled at APU for three years (six semesters)
During his or her first year at APU, a transfer sophomore will assume a laptop that has one year remaining on its lease. After that year, the leased computer must be returned to the university in full working order. The student will then be eligible to begin a new two-year leaseand they will be able to keep their second leased machine upon graduation. Model information for transfer sophomores is available here. One-year leases are available only in limited quantities and are on a first-come, first-serve basis.
Transfer Juniors
To be enrolled at APU for two years (four semesters)
The structure of the program for transfer juniors is very similar to that offered to incoming freshmen with one important difference. Upon graduation, the leased computer must be returned to the university in full working order; the student does not receive a second laptop. Transfer juniors can elect to buy out their laptop upon graduation; however, it is important to note that purchased machines are no longer supported by the university.
Transfer Seniors
To be enrolled at APU for one year (two semesters)
Upon entering the university, a transfer senior will assume a laptop that has one year remaining on its lease. After that year, the leased computer must be returned to the university in full working order; the student does not receive a second laptop. Transfer seniors can elect to buy out their laptop upon graduation; however, it is important to note that purchased machines are no longer supported by the university. Model information for transfer seniors is available here. One-year leases are available only in limited quantities and are on a first-come, first-serve basis.
Spring Entrants
To be enrolled at APU for four years (eight semesters) or three-and-one-half years (seven semesters)
A limited number of laptops are available to students who desire to enter the program in the spring. (This includes students who enter the university in the spring as well as students who elected to not participate in the program in the fall.) After three semesters, the leased computer must be returned to the university in full working order. The student will then be eligible to begin a new two-year leaseand they will be able to keep their second leased machine at the conclusion of that two-year period, regardless of whether they are graduating or spending an additional semester at the university.
