Clean Access Agent
The Clean Access Agent is required for all Windows users on the APU network. This includes both the wired (ethernet) and wireless networks. The Clean Access Agent does not allow virus-infected computers to get online, which significantly increases the stability and speed of the network.

The first time that a Windows user logs in to the registration system, they will be prompted to download the Clean Access Agent. Once installed, the Clean Access Agent scans the computer for the following items:
  • Norton Anti-Virus with recently-downloaded virus definitions
  • All current critical Windows Updates
If anything is missing, the Clean Access Agent notifies the user and provides links to the required updates and/or instructions on how to update the computer. The computer is granted temporary, limited access to the internet so that updates can be downloaded, but full access is not granted until all of the required updates are installed.

Over the course of the semester, the Clean Access Agent periodically scans the computer for new critical updates and, if necessary, prompts the user to download them. To prevent the Clean Access Agent from notifying you and suspending internet access, configure Windows to use Automatic Update.
