Phone Line Setup
Each living area in the dorms or Shire "H" Court is equipped with one active voice line jack that is shared by all roommates. To start using the phone line for on-campus, local, or incoming calls, just plug the student-provided phone into the voice line jack. No additional setup is required.

Calling Information
As a resident in the dorms or Shire "H" Court, you will have the ability to dial on campus by using a four-digit extension number, which is the last four digits of the phone number. On-campus dialing includes: all dorms, designated modular units, and university offices.

Off-Campus Dialing: Local Calls
The university provides local service at no charge. You can make free calls to the following cities, all within approximately a 12 mile radius of Azusa Pacific University: Arcadia, Azusa, Baldwin Park, Claremont, Covina, Diamond Bar, Glendora, El Monte, La Puente, Monrovia, Pomona, San Dimas, San Gabriel Canyon, and Sierra Madre. For specific area codes and prefixes included in these cities, please contact the IMT Support Desk. To dial off campus from your dorm phone to a local or toll free number: dial 9 + local or toll free number (include 1 + area code if dialing outside of the 626 area code). If you are unable to dial a number and believe that it is a local number, please e-mail the IMT Support desk at support@apu.edu. Be sure to include the complete phone number. The number will be programmed in our system allowing it to be dialed.

Off-Campus Dialing: Long Distance Calls
To place any calls outside of the free radius, you can purchase a calling card to be used from your dorm phone. Please see the section on Calling Cards for more information. The university blocks all 900 and 976 numbers.

Calling Cards
Personal Calling Cards may be used from your room. Please remember, since the telephone line in your room is university property, you are not permitted to order a calling card against your dorm telephone number. Any cards ordered against your dorm telephone number will result in termination of phone service for you along with a $75 fine for telephone abuse. Make sure the calling card you choose utilizes dialing either a local or toll free number. There are no charges from APU for using your own personal calling cards. The calling card carrier will bill all calling card calls separately to you.

Collect Calls
Students are not allowed to accept collect telephone calls. In the event a collect call is accepted, a processing fee of $9 per call, in addition to the full cost of the call, will be billed. Due to the difficulty of identifying the responsible party in this situation, all tenants in that dorm room will evenly split all calls that are accepted by their extension.

Telephone Abuse
The university reserves the right to discontinue, deny, or restrict telephone service without notice to any student it determines is abusing the telephone system. Abuse includes, but is not limited to: physical damage to equipment, ordering a calling card against a university phone number, or harassment of any type via telephone.

Telephone Instrument
Students are responsible for providing their own phone instrument. The 2.4GHz cordless phones are not permitted on campus. These phones interfere with on campus wireless internet connectivity. Any 2.4GHz phones will be removed after a warning is given.
