Virus CleanVirus Cleaning Services As a free service to all APU students, IMT will perform ONE virus cleaning process on ONE computer per customer per semetser. Should a customer require another virus scan performed in that same year, $25 will need to be paid before the service will be performed. Helpful Tools Below are a few helpful websites that will offer free virus scanning and cleaning. *Please Note: When using an online scanner, you might be prompted to purchase, download, or install extra software; doing so may result in Windows crashing due to incompatible antivirus software with Symantec Antivirus Free Downloadable Tools Below are a handful of helpful installable antimalware programs. These tools are compatible with Symantec Antivirus and can work in conjunction with each other. Most can be found by simply searching online for their name.
Students with computers that are already infected are highly encouraged to bring in their computers before the infection causes data loss or operational failures. Students who do not frequently update their computers and antivirus program are putting their network access and that of the APU community at risk. Viruses can also damage computer files and distribute themselves via email or via the network to other at-risk computers. In the interest of delivering high-speed Internet access to every member of the student body, APU changed the way students log onto the network. To ensure that computers connected to the network have all current operating system updates and are virus-free, all users (Mac and Windows) must download Cisco Clean Access Agent and log in to the authentication system. If you do not have an APU-authorized antivirus program installed, you will not be able to access the network. Not to fear-- Symantec AntiVirus is available to all APU students free of charge!
